Technical explanation
Different rack geometries require different datums. Straight racks emphasize cumulative pitch, mounting references and tooth form; curved racks also require radius, arc length, hole position and segment transitions.
The new material shows actual inspection of straight racks, heavy sections and curved ring segments on CMM and dedicated metrology equipment.
Results support release and segment matching; machine-level accuracy must also include mounting surfaces, pinion, bearings and structural stiffness.
